The requests for tribal tattoos are growing more popular everyday. These strong expressions of art are being inked on arms as tribal arm band tattoos, over-sized bold impressions are being displayed on backs, as well as on the calf. An arm band tattoo is one that will go across your whole bicep, sort of like a bracelet.

Originally, tribal tattoos started off as only black, thick, and bold designs and eventually grew to using many colors such as reds, blues, and greens for a more vibrant look. A tribal tattoo typically consists of bold patterns and designs and usually has a specific symbolic meaning.

Some of the more common designs associated with these types of tattoos are butterflies, crosses, daggers, and flowers, roses in general. However, more and more people are creating their own designs or using the internet to gather ideas on what they may like.

Tattoos in general, have come along when since when they were first originated from Southeast Asia. Although, when derived at the time, tribal tattoos were not just meant for an artistic expression, but had great meaning behind them. In various cultures tattoos represented bravery, strength, courage, and religion. Tribal tattoos also played a large role in ones social status among their peers, and were highly worn by different tribes, with their symbols representing everything they believed in.

The use of tattooing equipment has also come along way. Now we have tattooing guns, with different size needles to obtain the exact look that you want. As opposed to when the Polynesians were using a turtle shell with needles at the tip, and then hitting the shell with a large rock or stick to cause the needles to penetrate the skin. Pigment would then be used to add definition to the tattoo. Needless to say the methods used today are much less invasive and are sure to be a lot less painful then when they first originated.
